Celebrating Women in Business and Technology: A Spotlight on International Women’s Day
As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, we take the opportunity to recognise the amazing contributions of women in the business and technology industries. This year, we interviewed two of our talented staff members, Victoria Bell and Harrie Day, to hear their experiences, challenges, and advice for women considering a career in these industries.
Victoria Bell: A Passion for Structure and Improvement
Victoria Bell, our Governance and Operations lead at 3EN Group ensures that business processes run smoothly, aligning them with current needs and maintaining compliance with industry standards. She also played a crucial role in securing the ISO 9001 accreditation for the company last November, a testament to her attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
When asked if she always envisioned herself in this role, Victoria shared that governance and operations weren’t exactly where she thought she’d end up. She explained, “I’ve always loved structure, organisation, and improving systems, which naturally led me into this role.” Her passion for these areas allowed her to build a successful career in operations, even though it wasn’t part of her original plan.
Outside of work, Victoria is an avid reader, particularly fantasy and romantic genres. She finds that fantasy books, especially dystopian ones, offer a way to engage with real-world issues while providing a much-needed escape. For Victoria, books are a way to reflect on politics and societal structures from a different perspective.
When asked what advice she would give women considering a career in business and technology, Victoria emphasised the importance of perseverance and support. “Don’t listen to people who say you can’t succeed, especially when it comes from a gendered perspective,” she advises. “It’s crucial to uplift each other and create an inclusive environment. We don’t want to be the ‘firsts’ or ‘onlys.’ We need women in these fields consistently and accepted for who they are.”
Harrie Day: A Journey Through Different Roles
Harrie Day, a Senior Client Services Representative at 3EN Group, has had a diverse career journey that led her to the tech industry. Originally, she aspired to become an actor but quickly realised that the profession wasn’t financially stable. Harrie then pivoted to a role at her local theatre, where she worked with an outdated box office system. This led her to a career in cinema management and eventually to a role as an office manager for an off-licence company.
After taking maternity leave, Harrie sought part-time work and joined an online retail company where she spent the next decade working with NetSuite and other ERP systems. Her experience eventually led her to 3EN, where she now thrives as a Senior Client Services Representative, managing a set list of clients and providing NetSuite system support.
Harrie’s career path wasn’t always clear, but her range of experiences and determination allowed her to transition into a role she now loves. She notes, “My combined experiences allowed me to progress from Sales Rep to Customer Service Manager and eventually to Business Analyst, where I had the opportunity to learn how to use NetSuite, which led me to the job I have today.”
Outside of work, Harrie is passionate about amateur dramatics. She is actively involved in her local theater group, where she is currently the Stage Manager for a production of The Wizard of Oz. Last year, she even had the pleasure of playing a female Dame in the pantomime.
Harrie’s advice to women pursuing a career in tech is simple yet important: “Go for it! What’s the worst that could happen?”
The Future of Women in Business and Tech
As we reflect on the experiences shared by Victoria and Harrie, it’s clear that women are making significant strides in the business and tech industries. Both women have shown that success isn’t always about having a clear path from the start—it’s about drive, perseverance, and being open to new opportunities. Whether it’s leading operations or managing client services, women in business and tech are proving that they belong and are here to stay.
International Women’s Day is a reminder that while progress has been made, there’s still work to be done. As Victoria and Harrie highlighted, creating an inclusive environment, supporting each other, and lifting women up will ensure that future generations can succeed in these industries. Their stories inspire all of us to keep pushing boundaries and striving for equality, not just on one day, but every day.
